Above Water Systems was founded by Larry Decker, Jr., proud to be a second-generation advocate in the water purification industry. Above Water Systems is headquartered in beautiful Fontana, Wisconsin, USA, an area renowned for it’s crystal clear lakes and vast green space. Our products are proudly designed, tested and manufactured in the USA, but we address the impact of water impurities around the globe with loyal customers in many countries. We offer solutions to Todays Drinking Water Concerns ® and we remain focused on amazing and personalized customer service above all else.

In 2014,  Above Water Systems   first introduced the AWS-1™ replacement cartridge, specifically designed to  address industry standards NSF 42, 53, 401.  Our design team, composed of industry thought leaders,  identified the most impactful and growing threats to our drinking water, including Arsenic V. The AWS-1 was designed to address the Arsenic V threat (among other contaminants) with proven test results. The Water Quality Association®, an independent non-for-profit organization founded in 1974, describes the impact of Arsenic in their 2014 technical report:

“Toxicity of arsenic to humans is well known, and ingestion of as little as 100 milligrams (mg) can result in severe poisoning. Amounts in water are normally much lower, but low concentrations still can lead to chronic symptoms. The effect of arsenic, when ingested in small amounts, appears very slowly. In fact, it may take several years for the poisoning to become apparent. Chronic arsenicosis can in its most extreme form, cause death. Inorganic arsenic is absorbed readily from the gastrointestinal track and becomes distributed throughout the body tissues and fluid”.*

The need for microbiologic purification at real world flow rates of one gallon per minute has been highlighted by industry specialists and filter distributors. At Above Water Systems, we were thrilled to meet this need with a dedicated microbiologic laboratory designed to test at and above NSF P231.  Over one year of rigorous research and development was conducted using a new hybrid carbon block mesh technology.  After competitively testing several formulation prototypes head to head, one novel formulation continued to perform above all. This formulation, now know as the AWS-1 Plus,  addressed the need highlighted by industry specialists. Above Water Systems is proud to introduce the AWS-1 Plus, Superior microbiologic purification at one gallon per minute flow rates. Available July 2019.
